He served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot during the Korean War and had been employed by the Raymond Baking Co. in Waterbury. He had previously been vice president of the advertising firm of Ted Bates & Co.
Mr. Detelj is survived by his wife, Enna Fenton Detelj; two sons, Brian and Michael Detelj, both of Plainville; two daughters, Teresa Bartoli of Southington and Tina Detelj of Westbrook, Maine; two sisters, Mary Savery of Ellenville, N.Y. and Ann Urtnowski of New Orleans, La.; three grandchildren.
The funeral was held at St. Dominic Church, Flanders Road, Southington. Burial was in Long Island National Cemetery. Della Vecchia Funeral Home, North Main St., Southington.
