Mary Genevieve Beer was born on June 14, 1906 in Ipswich, SD to Wm. and Mary (Wellman) Boeding and she was the oldest born out of 13 children. At the age of 4 she moved wit her parents to a homestead NE of Glad Valley, SD where she gew up and attended school in Glad Valley, SD. On June 15, 1926 she married Fred Beer at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Timber Lake, SD and they made there home 11 miles west of Isabel, SD until 1996. She then moved to the Mobridge Care Center where she has since resided.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society. She loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed crocheting and tatting. In her younger years she enjoyed milking cows and driving a team of horses.

She is survived by five sons: Leroy (Bud) Beer of Mobridge, SD, Adolph and Marge Beer of Isabel, SD, John and Maureen Beer of Timber Lake, SD, Fred and Karen Beer, Jr. of Keldron, SD and Bernard and Karen Beer of Faith, SD; one daughter Alice and Jim Hulm of Timer Lake, SD, one son-in-law Bill Alley of Isabel, SD, 2 brothers: George Boeding of Faith, SD and Ray Boeding of Donahue, IA; 4 sisters: Gertie Pollpeter, France Lampe and Rosanna Derksen of West Point, Iowa and Vernie O'Hora of Inwood, IA; 29 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her paretns, her husband Fred in 1984, 2 daughters Louise Beer and Mary Alley, five brothers and one sister.
