Harold Hartland Hammer, 46 died Thursday mornng at an Idaho Falls Hospital following an operation.
He was born March 18, 1902 at Woodvile, Idaho the son of Jasper John Hammer and Sarah Ann Bartlett Hammer. He received his early education at Ammon and on December 16, 1924 was married to Grace Maime Lombard in Idaho Falls. They lived in Lima, Montana for a time and in Taylor, Utah, but for the last 21 years resided in Ammon, Idaho. For 18 years he was a dragline operator for the Progressive Irrigation District. At the time of his death he was employed by the Idaho Irrigation District.
He was an elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and games and being with his family.
He is survived by his widow, Grace and the following children: Virginia J (Donald) Messick of Pocatello, Idaho, Jerold J, Beverly G. and Wayne V Hammer all of Ammon, 2 grandchildren, Brent and Carol Messick, Pocatello, Idaho. Brothers and sisters: William J. Hammer, Flora May (Marvin) Anderson, Lewis U. Hammer. Ammon, Charlotte (William Carson) Singley, Bountiful, Utah, Iletta Jane, (Hyram Vivian) Peterson, Ogden, Utah.
Funeral services had to be delayed for a week due to a severe blizzard that closed the roads. They were held in the Ammon LDS ward chapel. Interment in the Ammon Cemetery.
