When she was 17 she moved to Butte, Montana where her father worked for the railroad.
She was married to Harold Hartland Hammer December 16, 1924 at Idaho Falls, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple. They lived in Ammon and Taylor, Utah. Harold died February 3, 1948. Grace married Marion McKenzie June 4, 1955 in Idaho Falls where they lived until her death.
Grace worked at the Ammon School Lunch Program, Island Park Lodge, Idaho. She was active in church, singing in the choir, teaching Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society. She loved fishing, playing cards and being with family.
She died Sunday in the Idaho Falls Hospital of a heart condition. She is survived by her widower, Marion McKenzie, sons Jerold J Hammer of Idaho Falls and Wayne V. Hammer of Mountain Home, daughters, Virginia J. (Donald) Messick of Roy, Utah and Beverly G. (Garth) Streeper of Clovis, California, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, a brother, Charles Thomas Lombard of Bremerton, Washington.
Services were held April 9, 1975 at Woods Chapel of the Pines in Idaho Falls. Internment in the Ammon Cemetery.
