He died in a Boating Accident.

The Connaught Telegraph, Saturday 24th April 1920.

While Privates Redfern, Vintres and Cooper, A.S.C. were changing seats in a boat during a fishing expedition on a lake at Claremorris, the little craft overturned, with the result that Redfern and Vintres were drowned. Cooper clung to the boat which drifted into rushes and was rescued by a motor mechanic named Paisley.
