2 (C)OTU's Bristol Blenheim IV (#Z5746) aircraft, with a crew of three, took off from RAF Catfoss on a night cross-country navigation flight. For unknown reasons Z5746 was recorded as having strayed from the planned course; the aircraft flew into Burbage Moor near Ringinglow in South Yorkshire, taking the lives of the three crew members.

RAF Sergeant Eric BROWN,
RAF Pilot Officer Ifor King PARRY-JONES and
RAFVR Sergeant John ROBSON.
