Edith Margaret Hesebeck was born in Ocheyedan Township on a farm five miles south of Ocheyedan, August 2, 1874. She grew to womanhood in that community
On April 22, 1897, she was married to J.R. Kout at Sibley. He died September 18, 1919. To this union were born two children; J. Hubert Kout and Irene Rose Kallsen both of Ocheyedan
Three brothers and five sisters survive. They are Will of Jackson, Minnesota and Henry; Mrs. Anna Verthein of Pipestone, Minnesota, Mrs. Tillie Rouse, Mrs. Maw Rouse and Mrs. Lena Blair of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Minnie Saienga of Melvin, Iowa. \
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Dora Graves of Bethel, Missouri
Mrs. Kout was possessed of a light hearted disposition, she was a good neighbor and an affectionate and kind mother
She was an active member of the Methodist Ladies Aid Society, the Royal Neighbors of America and the Woman's Relief Corps
