He was preceded in death by his first wife, Francis Elizabeth Garrett Sergent.
He retired from R.H. Boughleney, was a Navy veteran of World War II and attended Hurricane Church of Christ.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving are wife, Ruby; son, Steve C. Sergent and his wife Betty of Monroe, N.C.; daughter, Sue Ann Limp and husband Jim of North Dakota; three stepchildren; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; nine step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Allen Funeral Home with Ed Covert officiating. Burial will follow in Trace Fork Cemetery.
