With a mangling of human sorrow and Christian joy, we record the departure of Ada B. Archer. We sorrow because we must part for a time, from one so lovable. We rejoice because she "fought the good fight, she kept the faith and henceforth there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness." On Thursday morning she peacefully closed her eyes upon scenes temporal and at once opened them upon beauties eternal.
Ada B. Newell was born in Constantine, Michigan, Dec. 1, 1870. When but two years of age, she came with her parents to Kansas and settled on a homestead near Scottsville. In 1887 Ada Newell was united in marriage with C.G. Archer, and together they enjoyed the increasing bliss of a happy home life. The ties that bound their hearts into mutual joy were lifted into higher happiness by the coming of nine children---- three sons and six daughters. Two of the boys preceded the mother in death. There are also living of the immediate relatives, the husband, the aged mother, a brother and three grandchildren. At an early age Mrs. Archer united with the Methodist church and ever remained faithful to its services and deeply interested in its holy welfare. Though 49, her life is not valued not by her years, but by her goodness toward people, her devotion to her home and her ever increasing love for God. The husband and children in a special manner loved the wife and mother and labored to make her pathway pleasant. The bereaved family are assured of the Christian sympathy of their many friends and of the entire church of which Sister Archer was an esteemed member.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. Fellows of the M. E. church and interment was in Glasco cemetery.
