Nephi L. Griffiths, 71, of 517 Gale Street, died Thursday at 2:30 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of mesenteric thrombosis. He was a retired miner.

Mr. Griffiths was born September 28, 1869 in Mountain Ash, South Wales a son of Thomas and Alice Lloyd Griffiths, and came to Utah as an LDS church convert in 1889. He was a member of the LDS Sixth-Seventh ward and a member of the ward seventies council.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ellen Bain Griffiths, and the following sons and daughters; Verlate Conlon, William and Nephi L. Griffiths, all of Los Angeles, Cal. and Mrs. Harriet Johnson of Salt Lake City; a brother, Thomas Griffiths of Springville; four stepchildren, E. H. Bain, D. W. Bain, L. H. Bain, and Mrs. Belle Huth of Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at 574 East South street. Burial will be in Salt Lake City cemetery.
