Abram Gale, 86, of 165 N. Kenilworth av., Oak Park, member of a pioneer Chicago family and operator of the drug store in the Palmer House for 50 years before his retirement in 1933, died yesterday in his home.
His grandfather, also Abram Gale and father, Edwin O., settled here in 1832 when the city was an Indian trading post. The section north and east of North and Oak Park avs., known as Galewood, formerly was farmland owned by the Gale family. Mr. Gale was born in the same block where the present Gale home is located. His father opened the drug store in the Palmer House in 1849.
Surviving are his widow, Maud Bolles, a daughter, Mrs. Esther Sprague; and son, Charles B., and three grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:30 p. m. tomorrow in the chapel at 523 Lake st., Oak Park.
