It was with a great deal of sorrow, too, that we learned of the death in a car wreck of Mrs. Velma L. Smith, with whom we had served as an officer in the Eastern Star, No. 639. Velma's husband, a musician and cabinet maker in East Waco, died some years ago. Her death marked the 32nd fatality in McLennan County this year, ten of which were killed inside the city limits of Waco. Waco Citizen, Thursday, August 29, 1968
