Bess married Charles Seaborn Parker on June 9, 1917. Charlie was a neighbor of the Burns family in Cullman County. Bess and Charlie had two children while still in Alabama, Willie "Bill" Penola Parker and Leldon Cortez "Jack" Parker. After making the move to Akron where both worked in the tire factories, two more children were born, Elouise Eleanor Parker and Norma Jean Parker. After retiring in 1970, Bess and Charlie returned to Cullman and built a beautiful home only two blocks from what used to be the Burns farm.
