Dies In Murray

MURRAY—Mrs. Lavina Ethel Thayne Alsop, 76, sister of Clifton E. Thayne of Provo, died Tuesday in a Murray hospital of natural causes.

She was born May 26, 1891 in Union, Utah, a daughter of Moroni and Lavina Gough Thayne, She was married to Henry Ray Alsop, June 23, 1909 in Union. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Sept. 22, 1950.

Mrs. Alsop had filled an LDS mission in Southern California and was a former president of the Grant Ward Relief Society She was also an organist.

Her survivors include sons and daughters , Clifton, Dean and Eldon Alsop of Salt Lake City; Wayne Alsop, Redwood City, Calif.; Austin Alsop, Las Vegas, Nev.; LaMar Alsop, Dobbs Ferry, N. Y.; Mrs. Okrey (Thora) Myler, Pocatello, Ida.; Mrs. Melvin (Donna) Palmer, East Moline, Ill.; brothers, sisters, Leslie Thayne, Midvale; Clifton E. Thayne, Provo; Delbert Thayne, Mrs. Ruby C. Nielson, both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. E. G. (Leona) Beckstead, West Jordan; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at the Murray 19th LDS Ward Chapel, 160 W. 6100 S. Friends may call at 4760 S. State Street, on Friday from 6 to 8 p. m. and Saturday from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Murray City Cemetery.
