St. George, UT - Merrill Prisbrey, 86, passed away August 18, 2010 from the effects of cancer surrounded by his family.

He was born May 4, 1924 to Hyrum and Susan Prisbrey in Washington, Utah, the ninth of twelve children. Merrill served in the US Marine Corp in WWII and loved his country.

He met his sweetheart, Pearl May at the Big-Hand Café in St. George, Utah. They were married on April 20, 1949, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, uncle and grandfather. He became a master baker of bread to share with the many, many friends that he loved.

Dad was always happy and quick with a song for whoever would listen. We will miss him dearly and are so very blessed to have been taught by his example of love and kindness.

He is survived by his children, Randy (Anne), G. Scott (Karen), Sharrene (Tom) Timothy, Colleen (Guy) Morrell, Robert (Juanie), 23 grand-children, 28 great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings: Maudie Lund, Rex Prisbrey, Irene Slack, and Ferril Dotson, his twin sister. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sweet wife, son Curtis, six brothers and a sister.

The family would like to express our gratitude to all of the medical professionals who helped to take care of Dad over the last few months; the doctors and nurses on the third floor of Dixie Regional Medical Center, Dr. Clarke, and Dr. Richards and their staff. We are especially grateful to Mary and the wonderful friends at the Beehive Cottages, in St. George.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Washington LDS 5th Ward Chapel, 446 Mangum Rd, in Washington Utah. A visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the chapel prior to services. Interment will be at the Washington City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221
