LOCK CHONG CHOONG
EVANSTON, WYO., Oct. 14_Funeral services for Lock Chong Choong (Mormon Charley), 77, who died at his home Thursday evening, will be held Sunday morning at ten o'clock at the Durnford mortuary. Interment will be in the city cemetery near the grave of the late "China Mary," historic Chinese character. The grave will be dedicated by William M. Harris.

Mormon Charlie – His real name was Lock Long Choong. Mormon Charlie was only a nickname and he wasn't actually a Mormon. He was given the nickname because he assimilated well with the locals. Charlie migrated to the U.S. in 1881 at age 19. He was a well known vegetable gardener in Evanston, Wyoming. He was a small man who was remembered for carrying large amounts of vegetables around town using two baskets supported by a long pole. Sometimes he would give children rides in the basket. He was well trusted by locals; he often entered people's homes to leave vegetables while they were out for the evening.
