Zion B. Cornelius served in the Union Army in the Civil War. Zion was born in March 12, 1847 to Cargile and Nancy C. Blackwood. Zion served in the place of an older brother. Zion was ill during most of his enlistment. He met Lucinda Jane (Jennie) Keen Grigsby. Lucinda Jane (Jennie) Keen Grigsby was a widow of John H Grigsby, who also served in the Civil War and died at Gettysburg; who was a descendant of Aaron Grisgby the privateer in the American Revolutionary War. Lucinda and John's eldest daughter was Elizabeth who married Louis. Aaron Grigsby the privateer married Phebe Harrison a daughter of Benjamin Harrison V, Signer of the Declaration of Independence of Virginia. The Grigsby's and Harrison's lived in Stafford County, Virginia. Zion and Lucinda married after a short courtship and lived in Blount County, Alabama until Zion's death in 1916. Following Zion's death in 1916, Lucinda continued to live in Jefferson County Alabama with her daughter Elizabeth and husband Louis Turnbow; after their deaths Lucinda lived in Jefferson County, Alabama grandsons Chrisell Turnbow, Louis and Burt until her death in 1920. Grandsons Arthur and Raymond died without married.
