He served as the Adjutant of the Squadron/ Battalion till, March 1, 1918, when he was transferred to Company A, 105th Machine Gun Battalion. Promoted April 8, 1918 to Captain then transferred to the 304th Cavalry Regiment. Transferred to the 54th Field Artillery and promoted to Major, Field Artillery, Sept. 26, 1918. Discharged from the service, Feb. 21, 1919.
