Laura Mae Strong was the only child of Wm B Strong & Mary Jane "Molly" Moore. She came to TX, 1899, at age 18 with her twice widowed mother. They traveled with the family of Tom & Eula Calvin Sloan, arriving Elgin, Travis, TX.
Laura married Wm Sewell Brownlow, 1902, Manor, TX. The family farmed in Goforth, Hays County, with Sewell's kin who had earlier migrated from Giles, TN.
Laura & Sewell, with 4 children & Laura's mother, Molly Strong, moved to Ft. Worth in 1911 & farmed near Kennedale.
Sewell Brownlow died of TB in 1915, leaving widow Laura with 5 young children. The oldest was 12yrs and the youngest was 3mo old.
The 2 widows, Laura & her mother, continued the farm and raising the children.
Laura married Elmer Wheeler in abt 1924. Elmer was not new to the family. He was brother of Adam Archie Wheeler whose wife was Mamie Brownlow, sister of Sewell Brownlow.
Laura & Elmer Wheeler had 1 child, Ralph. The family moved to farm near the Mary's Creek community from mid-20's to late 30's. They then moved back to the Kennedale farm where they remained to Elmer's death, 1963.
