George M. Johns,a former well known resident of this city, died this morning in his home in Elyria,Ohio, at the age
of 78 years following an illness of six months.
The deceased, who was born in Jefferson County,was a son of the late Joseph J. & Mary Hoch Johns. He was united in marriage in 1879 to Miss Margaret Hopkins.

Mr. Johns, a retired railroader, was a member of the Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Masonic Order.
He left Punxsutawney about 30 years ago for Elyria,Ohio, where he had since resided.

Surviving are his widow and the following brothers and sisters: Ammon, of Portland,Oregon;
Joseph, of Punxsutawney;
Mrs. M. A. Thrush, of Spokane, Wash.;
Mrs. Fred Smith and Mrs. Carl Jordan, of this city.
One grandson, George Guinett, of Elyria, also survives.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon in the chapel of Jordan`s Funeral Home on North Jefferson Street.
Burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery.
The body will arrive in this city Friday.
