Mrs. Ada Coppage of Portageville, a former resident of Caruthersville, died in a Memphis hospital Friday morning of spinal meningitis which developed following an illness from influenza and pneumonia and an ear infection. She was 53 years old.
Mrs. Coppage was well known in Caruthersville, having lived here fifteen years ago before moving to Portageville, where she made her home with her mother Mrs. Ellen Stone, until her death some four or five years ago and with her son, Bob Stone Coppage.
She was born near Point Pleasant, Missouri, the daughter of Bentley and Ellen Stone. The family lived there for some time, until they moved to Portageville some thirty years ago, where she was married to Phil C. Coppage. They made their home in Caruthersville for several years.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Portageville by the Rev. Mr. Baynes, pastor of the church, and burial was in the cemetery there in the Stone family plot.
Besides her son, who lives at home, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Lucille Goalder of Hickman, Ky. and two brothers, Harvey Stone of Flint, Mich. and Roscoe Stone of Hickman, Ky.
