Wilson Hazelbaker, 79, a 60-year resident of Oakwood, died at
5:45a.m., Thursday (Sept. 30, 1971) at the Vermilion Nursing Home, where he had been a patient since Aug. 12. Mr. Hazelbaker was born Feb. , 1892 in Fowler, Ind., son of Andrew J. and Flora Hazelbaker. He married Elva Moore in July, 1914 in Watseka, and
she died on Jan. 21, 1971. Surviving are five sons, Estol of Muncie, Virgil of danville Route 1, Charles of Tilton, John of Muncie, and Leo of Mukwanago, Wis; four daughters, Mrs. Orville (Arvetta) Combs of Mukwanago, Mrs. Everett (Florence) Myers of Hoopeston, Mrs. Fred (Marie) Vanderslice of Westville and Mrs. Thomas (Thelma) Shotts of Danville; two brothers, Leslie of north Liberty, Ind, Andrew of Danville Route 1; 40 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, seven brothers, four sisters, and six grandchildren.
Mr. Hazelbaker was employed as a coal miner, farmer and served as custodian at Oakwood High and the Southern States Cooperative.
