SYRACUSE – Carole Ann Williams Bates, age 56, of Syracuse, UT, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2003. She was born September 6, 1946 in Pasadena, CA. She is the daughter of Wayne Williams and Grace Mitchell Williams.

She will be deeply missed by many, especially her family. She had a great impact on all that knew her. She had a giving nature and the ability to give others confidence. The State Farm office, where she worked, and the Cub Scout program truly benefited from her amazing organizational skills. She had a passion for genealogy and had great skills in sewing, gardening and crafting. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life.

She is survived by her eternal companion of 36 years, Randolph V. Bates and her children; David K. Bates of Syracuse, UT; Diane (David) Green of Beale AFB, CA; Kristen (Dwayne) Varnell, of Roy, UT; Karin (Jeramy) Jenkins of Dayton, NV; and Michael B. Bates of Syracuse, UT.

She has seven grandchildren; Laura, Jacob, Jared, and Joshua Green, Kayla and Benjamin Varnell and Eli Jenkins. She is also survived by her father, Wayne Williams of Barstow, CA; her step-father, Robert Mitchell of Fallon, NV; her sister, Vicki Collins of Scottsdale, AZ and her brother, Richard Williams of Crescent City, CA.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Mitchell, just three weeks earlier.

We would like to thank all of our wonderful friends and neighbors for all their love and support.
