Raymond Gaylord Ritchie, 37, died at 5 p.m. Friday at his home, Mayslick, Route 2, after he shot himself with a .22-caliber rifle, Mason County Coroner Madison Breeze reported. The coroner said he had not learned why the man killed himself.
Mr. Ritchie was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virgie Clay Ritchie; his mother, Mrs. Addie Ritchie, Myers; a daughter, Martha Sue Ritchie, and three sons, Billy Gayle, Sterlie Ray Ritchie and Don Arnold Ritchie, all at home; five sisters, Mrs. Leonard Crawford, Lexington; Mrs. Harry Purcell, Mt. Olivet; Mrs. Russell Cox, Cincinnati; and Mrs. Charles Hunt and Mrs. Henry Barnett, Nicholas County, and three brothers, Virgil Ritchie, Cincinnati; Cecil Ritchie, Detroit, Michigan; and William Ritchie, Nicholas County.
The body was brought to the Mathers-Shearer Funeral Home where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, conducted by Rev. L.E. Kineman. Burial in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Pallbearers were William, Virgil and Cecil Ritchie, Henry Barnett, Leonard Crawford and Calvin Purcell.
