SATURDAY

Rudolph (Rudolf) Valenta, resident of Route 3, Gonzales, died at his home at 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Services are set for 9:45 a.m. Saturday, and at 10 a.m. from the St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter J. Roebrocks officiating. The Rev. Roebrocks will also be in charge of the rosary service to be held at Baker Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will take place in the City Cemetery.
Mr. Valenta was born in Czechoslovakia on April 17, 1884. A farmer and rancher, he had made his home in Gonzales County for many years. He was member of St. James Catholic Church, of the Holy Name Society and of the SPJST Lodge.
Surviving are nine sons, Edward Valenta, George Valenta, and August Matocha, all of Gonzales; Jerry Valenta of Beaumont; Rudy Valenta and Louis Matocha of Ganado; Raymond Valenta of Sugarland; Paul Matocha of Agua Dulce; and Robert Valenta of New York.
Other survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Mary Hubenak of Ganado; and Mrs. Hermina Strouhal of Highlands; 29 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Anton Valenta of Austin and Bohus Valenta of Gonzales.
