James William "Jim" Calhoun, 82, passed away Monday, March 6, 2006, in Pulaski County Health Care Center, Winamac, IN. He was born and grew up in Monterey, IN, and with wife, Helen Dudek Calhoun (deceased), raised his own family in South Bend while working at Studebaker's, the U.S. Postal Service and wherever else necessary to make sure he took care of his family. He was a good man, a responsible father, faithful husband, supportive brother and loving son. He always did what he thought was right and that is how he will be remembered. He and Helen had three sons, Richard (Susan), now in Atlanta, Ga., Thomas (Kathleen) of Carmel, Ind., and Lawrence, who has passed away. Lawrence's wife, Sharon, survives and resides in Mishawaka, IN. James is also survived by his wife, Alberta Miller Calhoun; brother, Jack; three sisters, Susie Reinhold, Ruth Ann Bowersox and Carol Kelsey; eight grandchildren, Rebekah Ulmer, Christopher Calhoun, Kristin Calhoun, Matthew Calhoun, Jaime Calhoun, Robert Carr, Kathy Carr and Debbie Regan; and five great-grandchildren, Michael Carr, Alicia Carr, Elizabeth Regan, Alexander Regan and Jacob Ulmer. Visitation will be on Friday, March 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation and/or to the American Parkinson's Disease Association.
