He was born February 17, 1903 in Leggett, the son of Charlie Turner Jones and Martha Ann Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons Paul Lavern Jones and Joseph Lee Jones; one sister, Lyda Brunson; and two grandsons, Jeff and David Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Florine Parker Jones of Houston; four sons, John Jones and wife Janet of Houston, Herman Jones and wife Joyce of Houston, Charles Jones and Wife Clara of Tomball; and Hartzel Jones and wife Jimmie Sue of Houston; daughter, Bessie Connor and husband Rod of Lumberton; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Jones of Sealy; brother, Charlie Turner Jones Jr.; two sisters, Addie Davis of Hemphill and Jenarie Alexander of Leggett; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
