May C. Phelps (87), born May 2, 1923, died August 8, 2010 peacefully at home. May, was born in Soda Springs, ID to Frank and Emily Call, the fifth of seven children.

May married Tom Phelps, Oct. 21, 1947. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. May's family includes her husband, Tom of 63 years, seven children, Tom K. Phelps, of Boise, ID, Terrill L. Phelps of Kemmerer, WY, Lani (Sant) of Grace, ID and Debbie (Merrill) of Pendleton, OR and three children from a previous marriage; Robert Norman Fulton, Orem UT, Kay Sievers, Pocatello, ID and Neil C. Fulton; 29 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.

May was a devoted wife, an outstanding mother, grandmother, and friend to many; she will be missed by all who knew her. She lived her entire life in the Soda Springs area. She attended school in Grays Lake and moved to Soda Springs when she married. She worked as a waitress at the Caribou Coffee Shop, where she met Tom; then as a cook with the Soda Springs School District for 30 years and Caribou Memorial Hospital. May served faithfully in the LDS church as Relief Society President, Sunday School Teacher, Primary President, MIA President, Temple worker, Choir Director, Drama director and also as captain of the local DUP. She participated in community choirs, and plays. She was wonderful with words and wrote many poems, readings, plays and presented recitations.

May was preceded in death by a son, Neil Fulton, and a grandson, Michael Phelps. She is survived by her husband, Tom, sisters, Aloma Hussey of Downey, and Eliza Lei Sibbett, of Grays Lake and six children.

A viewing will held from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, August, 12th at Sims Funeral Home, Soda Springs, ID. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service Friday, August 13th, 10:30 am-11:30 am in the Relief Society Room at the Hooper LDS chapel, funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm. Bishop Alan Skinner, Soda Springs LDS 8th Ward, will preside at the services. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Soda Springs, ID.
