On 9 March 1953 he married Marjorie "Marj" Lucille Shockley in Rawlins, Carbon, Wyoming. To this union 1 son and 2 daughters were born. His youngest daughter, Marjorie "Boo" Louise Dillon preceded him in death in 1978.
He served in Korea during the Korean War as a SGT in the US Army.
At the time of his death his official address was Encampment, Carbon, Wyoming but he was actually living with friends in Grand Junction Colorado. He had been very ill with COPD but the cause of death was a self-infliced gunshot wound.
He is buried in the family plot with his mother and both sisters.
