For Mr. Cannon
Richard D. Cannon, 71, 1413 South 14th Street, Lanett, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday, at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, Langale, following a lengthy illness.
A native of Elmore County, Ala., he was born Sept. 13, 1897. Mr. Cannon was a member of the Lanett Congregational Christian Church and a retired employee of Columbus Manurfacturing Company.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. at the Lanett Congregational Christian Church, with the Rev. Walter Hall and the Rev. Robert Saul ofrficiating. Burial will be in Shawmut Cemetery, with Johnson-Brown Service Funeral Home, Langdale, in charge.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Annie McCarthy Cannon; three sons, William E. and Charlie E. Cannon, both of Columbus, and David C. Cannon of Lanett; four stepsons, Mark Scott, Lanett, Robert A. Scott, Sparta, Wis., Wallace D. Scott, LaGrange and Phillip Scott, Shawmut; two step daughters, Mrs. Rhoda Ann Kindeson, Mt. Olive, Ala., and Mrs. Marie Booker, Brookside, Ala.; three sisters, Mrs. Liddle Hodnett and Mrs. Fannie Mae Burnley, both of Shawmut, and Mrs. Ada McNeil, Tallassee, Fla.; three brothers, Will and Brewer Cannon, both of Shawmut and Joe Cannon, Cusseta; 11 grandchildren and three great-gradnchildern.
