CUSSETA -- Mr. Josep E. Cannon, 97, of Cusseta, died Monday at Opelika Health Care Center in Opelika.
Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Shawmut Cemetery with Elder Thomas Mobley officiating.
Mr. Cannon is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Hudmon of Opelika; three sons, Joe O. Cannon, Andrew D. Cannon and Billy R. Cannon of Cusseta; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A native of Tallapoosa County, Mr. Cannon was a member of Lanett Primitive Baptist Church. He was a truck farmer in the cusseta area for many years. He retired from WestPoint Pepperell's Shawmut Mill as a Master Mechanic.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6:30 until 8 at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
