She was born October 12, 1933 to the late Wesley and Dona Stephens McGowan.
She was the widow of Roscoe Shepherd.
She is survived by one son, Gary Roscoe (Norma) Shepherd, Dayton, OH, one daughter, Sharon (Michael) Popplewell, Russell Springs; five grandchildren, Jessica (Mark) Campbell, Milford, OH, Deanna Shepherd, Celeste Popplewell, both of Frankfort and Cecily (Logan) McCluloch, Russell Springs; four great grandchildren, Derek Campbell, Emma Campbell, Kylie McCulloch and Caleb McCulloch; one great great grandchild, Riley Campbell; four brothers, Leonard McGowan, Aberdeen, OH, Eugene McGowan, Somerset, Leon McGowan, Russell Springs and Chester McGowan, Milford, OH; four sisters, Janetta (Wilson) McGee, Blue Ash, OH, Lena Wright, Russell Springs, Zella Wilson, Science Hill and Adlene Keith, Somerset.
She was preceded in death by four siblings, Clara Hatfield, Hester Evans, James Wesley McGowan and Roberta Grossman.
Mrs. Shepherd was a factory worker and a member of the Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Logan McCulloch and Rev. Randy Brown officiating. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery.
