Mr. Royce Dewitt Morgan, 71, died Friday morning (August 13, 2010) at his residence in Brantley County after an extended illness.

He was a native of Brantley County where he lived most of his life. He retired from SCL Railroad as a signal maintainer. He was also affiliated with Woodard Chapel Congregational Methodist Church.

Mr. Morgan is the son of the late Colonel Ebenezer "Ebb" Morgan and Inez Gunter Morgan. He is preceded in death by one son, Thomas Gregory "Greg" Morgan.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Christine Thomas Morgan; one daughter, Pam Douglas (husband David) of Boston, GA; three grandchildren, Jonathan Douglas (Mary) of Royceton, GA, Zachary Douglas and Kaitlyn Douglas both of Boston, GA; three brothers, Edgar "Rusty" Morgan of Nahunta, Reagan Morgan of Hoboken, and Glenn Morgan of Hoboken; two sisters, Betty Jean Stewart of Blackshear, and Clarice Bell of Hoboken; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday (August 15, 2010) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
