Church service for Carrol Shelton, age 75, of Lubbock, formerly of Morton, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at First Missionary Baptist Church in Morton with Rev. Dale Dozier of Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery under direction of Ellis Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr. Shelton died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born March 8, 1929, in Hubbard. He married Alice Stracener in Morton on July 16, 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Martha Kay. He was a resident of Morton from 1962 until the early part of this year when he moved to Lubbock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. A graduate of Texas Tech with a degree in Agriculture Education, he returned to get his C.P.A. after his children were born. He had worked for Western Oil Co., owned and operated My-Store Grocery Store in Morton for a while, and recently owned and operated N.C. Shelton's C.P.A. Firm in Morton. He was past Wo rshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge and past Worthy Patron of the chapter of Order of the Eastern Star in Morton. He was a member of First Missionary Baptist where he was church treasurer, deacon, and Sunday School teacher of the Adult Men's Class.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; son, Ivy and wife Aimee of Andrews; daughter, Anita Asmussen and husband Charles of Lubbock; sister, Jo Ann Watts and husband Kenneth of Morton; and three grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, and Daniel Shelton.
