Agatha Mutz was known after marriage as Agnes Oesterle. She arrived with her family listed as (father) Adam F(family head) (age 36, born abt 1819), (mother) Eva (age 27, b. abt 1828), (older sister) Eva (age 2, b. abt 1852), Agatha, (all born in Besenfeld, Freudenstadt, Königreich Württemberg, Deutscher Bund, Deutschland), and (Adam's half sister?) Anna (age 20, b. abt 1835). The birth location in 2017 is Besenfeld, Freudenstadt, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland (Germany).
Full names from Eisenbach Lutheran church records in Wuerttemberg: Georg Adam Mutz (born 14 June 1819 Besenfeld, son of Johann Georg Mutz and Johanna Schitter), Eva Maria (maiden name Kirn, born 22 Jul 1827 Besenfeld, daughter of Johannes Kirn and Agatha Sackmann), Eva Maria Mutz (born 1 May 1853 Besenfeld, baptized 10 May 1853 at Eisenbach, Württemberg). A record for Agatha / Agnes baptism at Eisenbach has yet to be found. Speculation regarding the Anna Mutz b. abt 1835 who travelled with the family to America on the Mercury: 1. She may be the same person recorded as Anna Maria Muz b. 30 Mar 1837, baptized 4 Apr 1837 Fürnsal, Rottweil, Württemberg, daughter of a Johann Georg Muz and (second?) wife Barbara Braun. Rottweil is the landkreis (county) next to Freudenstadt; and/or 2. Adam and his family applied to emigrate in March 1855; a Barbara Muz, born in Besenfeld, applied in April 1855. No one else with either surname applied in 1855.

Agnes married John on May 13, 1872, they had 10 children. Two daughters proceeded her in death-May and Afa.

Agnes father was Adam Mutz or Mott of Germany. Mother not known.
