SKOWHEGAN - Robert William Groves, 77, died Aug. 7, 2010, at the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he had been a patient for a few hours.
He was born in Smithfield, Feb. 9, 1933, the son of Robert W. And Fern Edna (Crabtree) Groves.
He married Erma Storer in April of 1969 in Augusta. Robert was educated in the schools of Smithfield and was a truck driver most of his life. He enjoyed camping, fishing and rides in the countryside with his wife Erma.
Robert is survived by a sister, Joyce Staples and her husband, Roger, of Smithfield; two nephews, Daniel Charles and his girlfriend, Becky Pease, of Mercer, and Raymond Charles and his wife, Maryellen, of Mercer; and two nieces, Susan Nutter and husband Timothy of Belgrade, and Nancy French and husband Wayne of Belgrade.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Blanche Gerstein.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 21 at the Smithfield Village Cemetery in Smithfield. (Morning Sentinel 8/12/2010)
