Daughter Found Her Father Dead
Man Who Fought In The South Dies
At His Home In This City.
Ephriam Hook, age 80 years, 5 months and 1 day,
died suddenly at home 1215 Tippecanoe street about
2 o'clock this morning. While Mr. Hook was not ill
he had complained shortly before of a very severe
pain in his chest.
After having local applications made, he retired
again and shortly afterwards his daughter went into
the room and found him dead.
Mr. Hook was born in Bartholomew county, Indiana,
but had been a resident of Madison county for
forty-two years, the past ten years of which had
been in Alexanderia.
He is survived by three sons, Clarence E. Hook, of
Elwood, Sylvanus B. Hook, of this city, Adam G. Hook
of Shelbyville and two daughters Mrs. Kate McPherson,
of Madison county,and Mrs. Elizabeth Helton of this
city. Twenty-three grandchildren and seventeen greatgrandchildren survive.
Mr. Hook was a veteran of the Civil War. He was a
member of Company H, 145th regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry.
The funeral arrangements have not been completed
awaiting word from distant relatives.
Ephriam Hook Funeral
The funeral service of Ephriam Hook will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at Mount Valley church ten miles northeast of Alexandria, in charge of the Rev. Hiatt,
of this city, and interment will be made in the Waymire cemetery, near the church. The funeral cortege will leave the house at 11 o'clock.

and Susan M. Dawson Jan. 11, 1900. He also had a
daughter with Susan and she might of died at a young
age; Lizzie Hook b. March 05, 1901
