CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Joseph G. P. Laney Jr., 62, of Clarksville, formerly of Skowhegan, Maine, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Aug. 9, 2010, after a six-month battle with cancer with his wife Joan and sister Kathy by his side.

His was born Jan. 5, 1948, in Skowhegan, to Joseph and Madeline Laney Sr.

He graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1967, Carpentry Union No. 320 apprenticeship four-year program and Glendale Community College in Arizona. He served his country in the Air Force from 1967 to 1970 and was in Vietnam 1969 to 1970.

He was a member of The Trenton Assembly of God in Kentucky.

He is survived by his wife of seven years, Joan Davis Laney; his sisters, Kathy (John) Zaiser Jr. of Skowhegan and Lori Gallant of Madison, Maine; his nephew, J. Benjamin Zaiser of Richmond, Va.; his nieces, Karen Zaiser Dane of Richardson, Texas, and Kecia Gallant of Augusta, Maine; and great-niece Anais Dane of Texas; his stepchildren Richard, Reneigh and Brad of Tennessee and seven step-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Bruce Wayne Laney and a niece, Amy Gallant.

A burial will be held after at the VA Cemetery in Hopkinsville, Ky. (Morning SEntinel 8/11/2010)
