--LESSLIE - Mrs. Frances "Fran" McCulligh Sturgis, 68, of 820 Reese Road, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
--A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, a t Catawba Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Richardson officiating and Dr. Tommy Huddleston assisting. Burial will be in the church cemetery at 10:30 a.m., prior to the service.
--Fran was a native of Eckerman, Mich., and the daughter of the late Herbert and Leona Perry McCulligh. A homemaker, she was a member of Catawba Baptist Church, where she was the former Director of the Adult Sunday School.
--Surviving are her husband, Bobby R. Sturgis of the home; two sons, Rev. Ben Sturgis and wife, Teresa, of Collinsville, Va., and Tim Sturgis of Winston-Salem, N.C.; her daughter, Lori A. Morrison and husband, Dane, of Plainfield, IN; three brothers, Gary McCulligh of New Jersey, Herbert McCulligh of Hastings, Mich., and Wayne McCulligh of Alabama; two sisters, Mabel Bailey of New Mexico and Jerri Bullard of Michigan; and four grandchildren, Miss Jessica Morrison, Jason Morrison, Miss Elizabeth Sturgis and Miss Hannah Sturgis.
--The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service and other times at the home.
--In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, National Headquarters, 3300 East Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718 or to Catawba Baptist Church International Mission Fund, 2639 Catawba Church Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
