OBITUARY OF MRS ANNA HESPEN

Anna Hedwig Emma Hespen nee Eggerss, daughter of Friederich and Marie Eggerss nee Krueger, was born In Fehmarn, Germany, on July 29, 1873, and was baptized on October 12, 1873, in the Lutheran faith.

At the age of three, she, with her parents came to America, making their home in Shelby, Iowa.

On April 5, 1885, she was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Shelby by Rev. J. Kaminska.

February 8, 1895, she was united in marriage to John C. Hespen of Kiowa, Nebr.

They lived on a farm in the Kiowa precinct until 1911. Later they moved to a farm three miles north of Ruskin where her husband preceded her in death on May 6, 1945.

She had an affliction in childhood which made her a semi-invalid the last 15 years. A heart condition five weeks ago became serious. Her children tenderly cared for her in the home and she passed away Friday morning, Nov. 21, 1952, at 6 o'clock, at the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 23 days.

She was the last survivor of a family of fifteen children.

Those left to mourn her passing are two daughters, Mrs. Dina Schaeffer of Davenport and Mrs. Marie Glancy of Ruskin; one son, Fred, with whom she made her home; two sons-in-law, Earl Schaeffer and John Glancy; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

She was a devoted mother, ever cheerful in all her affliction; and always ready to help friends and neighbors as long as she was able.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, November 24, 1:30 at the home and 2 o'clock at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. H. C. Marting. Interment was made in Bethlehem Lutheran cemetery (sic).
