Kent was a small man but every one around him felt his presence. He had brown hair and blue eyes and a scar on his lip where he was hit with the ax when he was young. He loved to ride horses and it seemed like he was hair on their back. He truly loved to fish. It was very seldom he was unable to catch a couple or more to take home to eat. He always had a fish hook in that old red hat he loved so much so he could get a stick of some kind and fish while he was doing his work in the canyons. He was good help and loved the life style the ranch afforded him.
Kent enjoyed his years in the schools located in Orderville. He was active in sports playing basketball, but was especially involved in the Future Farmers of America club. He served as President and was included with the State as an officer and attended the National Convention in Nebraska. He also played the clarinet in the High School band. He participated in the Seminary program where he graduated.
After finishing High School he attended College in Cedar City. It was BAC when he was there. He took many classes to help identify the best methods of ranching and range management. He took flying lessons and acquired his pilots licence while in Cedar City. He also was a member of the ROTC program which he continued with when he transfered to Utah State University in Logan Utah.
After gratuating from Utah State with a Batchlors Degree he went to Fort Knox for more training as a 2nd Lietendent in the US Army. He was in the Armored Division. While there he found out he had cancer and was retired from the Army. He came home and continued his education at Utah State where he graduated with a Masters Degree.
By this time the cancer was beginning to take its toll so he came home for a while before going to Texas to see if he could get some help with his health. He ended up at the Army hospital in Houston Texas where he spent the summer of 1961. He had become engaged to Evelyn Salter in April not long before he went to Texas. He came home the end of August to spend the remaining days before he passed away. He was supposed to be married in September but instead he was laid to rest in September.
