Our wonderful mother, Mary Lou Carroll Melling, age 83, passed away on October 11, 2015. She was born on November 20, 1931 in Cedar City, Utah to Henry and Velma Brinkerhoff Carroll and grew up in Orderville, Utah. She married Joseph Robert Melling on June 6, 1953. They were later sealed November 19, 1976 in the St. George LDS Temple.
Mary attended SUU and USU where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Education and taught 4th and 5th grade at South Elementary School in Cedar City. She also taught geology and Native American History classes all over Southern Utah. Mary loved to “rock hound” and to grow unusual flowers. She would gather flower seeds on her many adventures in the Southwest. She enjoyed collecting and restoring antique furniture. And she thoroughly loved visiting with her neighbors, family and friends. Mary always enjoyed shopping trips, going to Las Vegas and staying along the way in the “camper” with Robert.
