DEATH OF GEO. BARNES
Geo. Barnes, one of the old and worthy settlers of Wayne county, died at the home of his nephew, Wm. Hodson, Tuesday night at 11 o'clock, aged about 72 years. Funeral services will be held in the Presbyterian church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Mr. Barnes was born in Manea, Cambridgeshire, England, March 17, 1832 and emigrated to America in 1864, locating in Ohio. Afterwards he lived in Illinois and Iowa, finally removing to Wayne county twenty-one years ago and locating on a farm eight and one half miles west of here.
His wife died a year ago last February. He leaves a brother, Sam Barnes of Wayne County, a sister living at Milan, Illinois. Henry Hodson of this county is his brother-in-law.
The deceased visited England last year, remaining several months and returning in September. His health was considered very feeble then, and his death did not come unexpected. He was a good citizen and enjoyed the respect and confidence of many friends.

George Barnes, a former resident of this vicinity, died in Wayne County, Nebraska at the home of his nephew, William Hodson. He was born 17 March 1832 in Manea, Cambridgeshire, England and came to America in 1864, locating in Ohio and later in Rock Island County. He came to Wayne County Nebraska 21 years ago. His wife died a year ago last February. The funeral was at the Presbyterian Church in Wayne.
