Joe E. Patterson, 39, died at 11 o'clock last night at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Patterson, near this city. His death followed a long period of illness.


Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the chapel of the Cobb Undertaking Company with the Rev. Jefferson Sherman, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be made in the Maple Grove Cemetery.


The deceased is survived by his parents; a sister, Viola Neal and two brothers, Roy Neal Patterson and Spurgeon Patterson, the latter of Birmingham, Alabama.
