Thomas was a farmer of about 200 acres according to the tax records. This land pasted to him by his father John Larimer and in turn Thomas passed it on to his offspring.

Thomas, a farmer, married Rachel Stevens about 1804. They had 13 children they named: Robert Stevens, Elizabeth C, Jane, Margaret G, Rachel, Mary, Eleanor "Ellen", Agnes "Aggie", John, Andrew Macune, Joseph, Benjamin Arundel "Ben" and Thomas Larimer.

The Larimer farm was on the mountain in Donegal township not far from the Somerset County border. The Larimer family farms are now owned by the Forbes State Forest. Some suggest Thomas and Rachel were buried on their old family farm in Donegal Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Others suggest they were buried in the Methdist Church Cemetery, Stahlstown, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
