SHERMAN - Services for Elton Brown, 79-year-old Sherman resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Brown died Sunday, Aug. 8 2010 at his home.
Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
Family night will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Services for Elton Brown, age 79, of Sherman, TX will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Rev. Danny Wood of West Sherman Baptist Church will officiate. Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
He passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at his residence in Sherman.
Elton was born one of 11 children on June 30, 1931 in Denton County the son of John M. and Nannie Aline Sharp Brown.
Elton was a Christian and has been a member of West Sherman Baptist Church since 1993. He was in Construction work most of his life, retiring from Austin Paving after 21 years. Elton spent two years in the United States Army and four years in the National Guard. He enjoyed traveling, doing woodwork and crafts, collecting die cast cars, playing the guitar and his coffee breaks with the neighbors.
He is survived by his wife Dorothey of Sherman, daughter Donna Richardson and husband of Bethlehem, PA, grandson, Justin Young and wife Heather of Haslet, TX, sisters, Lois Upchurch of Decatur, TX and Mary Smith of Richardson, TX. He is also survived by many other wonderful relatives, friends and neighbors.
Elton was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, five sisters and a son.
Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Home Hospice of Grayson County or West Sherman Baptist Church's Youth Fund.
Family night will be held on Wednesday, August 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Waldo Funeral Home.
