Sheffield Mann Hurt In Woods Dies In Hospital

Harry H. Potter, Sheffield woods jobber and member of the Sheffield township board of supervisors, died in the Kane community hospital at 8:40o'clock this morning from complications resulting from injuries received August 25th when he fell on an axe while at work in the woods in Four Mile valley.

Mr. Potter, veteran woods contractor for the Central Pennsylvania Lumber Company, was engaged in chopping the limbs from a fallen tree-top in the woods near his lumber cam[p at the head of Four Mile run when the accident occurred.

He was standing on the trunk of the fallen tree about eight feet above the ground when he lost his balance and fell to the ground, landing on his left side on top of the axe bit.

The blade entered his left side, cut off a rib, severed several blood vessels and muscles and punctured the diaphragm.

Mr. Potter was born near Fisher, Clarion county, January 18, 1887. He was married to Mollie Stone 39 years ago. She survives with the following children; Clyde Potter, Sheffield; Mrs. Florence Blosser, Roseville, Mich.; Forrest Potter, Ephrata, Pa.; Mrs. Margaret Miller, Emporium; H. L. Potter, Pittsburgh. He also leaves four grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Foster, of Youngsville, and a sister, Mrs. G. L. Howard, of DuBois.

He was a member of Blue Lodge of the Masonic Fraternity at Tionesta and the Coudersport Consistory.

Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed.[Warren Times Mirror, Page 2, Warren, Warren, Pennsylvania, September 19, 1938.]
