Wesley Clinton Slone was the son of David Franklin Slone b: 1823 in Pittsboro, Chatham, North Caroline, and Martha Ellen Long Slone b: 1832 in Henry County, Kentucky. Wesley was the 1st child of seven children.

His siblings are, in order of age: Eliza Victoria b: 1857, George Franklin b: 1860, Laura Beulah b: 1862, Charles Henry b: 1865, Ida Mae b: 1868, and Edward 'Spur' Burns b: 1871.

Wesley married Mary Ellen 'Ella' Colean on 1 Jan 1888 in Kane, Greene, Illinois. There were no issue to this union. Ella was born in 1849 in Jersey County. She was the daughter of Nelson Colean b: 1823 in Jersey County, and Sarah Jane Waddle b: 1827 also in Jersey County.
