Mrs. Messersmith was a daughter of the late Issac W. and Gertrude (Bowman) Mattis, and was a native of Elizabethville. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs Philip Messinger of Marysville: two grandchildren; two brothers, Homer Mattis, Millersburg; Paul Mattis, Elizabethville; and two sisters, Mrs. John Hoopertt, of Halifax, and Mrs Ethel Richter, Elizabethville.
Services were held from the Buffington Funeral Home, West Main Street, at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. W.Z. Artz, pastor of Salem Lutheran Church officiated and interment was made in Maple Grove Cemetery.
