Son of James Rawson & S.E. Adams of Koorlong, Mildura, Vic. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 16 September 1914 and embarked from Melbourne on 22 December 1914 for active service abroad per HMAT "Themistocles" (A32). "A message in a bottle was found on a beach at Alexandria which appeared to be written by Edgar saying that he had been taken prisoner." A Court of Enquiry determined that he had been taken prisoner of war and died in enemy hands 25 April 1915, aged 18 years.
